19th century mantel ornament figure of a man in 18th century rustic costume holding a two-handled basket
The painting detail is fabulous on this one - the facial details are perfect - the varied patterns on the trousers, blouse, and tie are all different and all rendered beautifully.
Has a blue pad mark on the bottom with the initials H.C - I have been unable to trace it
Circa 1850-65
