Absolutely wonderful early Lenox drinking mug hand painted with the portrait of a jolly monk holding a glass of wine and leaning against a cask. The mug is completely hand painted and the detail is incredible - the expression on the monk's face is delightful! Monochromatic - and all in shades of a dark teal green color - the mug also features a sterling silver (marked) rim that does have one slight area of corrosion on the back side. Stamped STERLING with the Lenox silver makers mark. Backstamp on bottom used from 1896-1906. Measures 5.75" tall. Some losses present on the high points of the decorative bottom edge. No chips or other damage aside from the aforementioned bit of corrosion on the back of the silver rim. Gorgeous piece!
